Echo now works in Claude and ChatGPT, with nothing to install

Add one URL as a connector, sign in with an email code, and your memories are there in Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex.

Research noteProduct update

Until now, Echo reached your AI through a small program on your computer. One command, echomem-mcp init, and Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor could search and save your memories.

That left out the places where a lot of thinking actually happens: a claude.ai tab, the Claude app on your phone, a ChatGPT conversation.

Now there’s a remote connector. Paste one URL into your AI app, sign in to Echo, and the same memories are there.

Connect in a minute

This is the address your AI app needs:

https://echo-mem-chrome.vercel.app/api/extension/mcp

  • Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste the URL. It then works on the web, in Claude Desktop, and in the mobile apps.
  • ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors, then create a connector with the URL and OAuth sign-in. If you don’t see the option, turn on developer mode under Advanced settings.
  • Codex: codex mcp add echomem --url followed by the URL, then codex mcp login echomem.

Echo then opens a sign-in page. Enter your email, accept the terms, type the six-digit code, and allow access. New to Echo? That creates your account. The setup guide has every step.

What your assistant can do

Talk to it the way you already do:

Search Echo for what we decided about pricing.

Save this conversation to Echo.

What did my team publish about the launch?

Memories it saves start out private. Before it deletes one, it shows you what will go. Before it publishes anything to a workspace, Echo’s tools tell it to check with you.

If you use Vault encryption

Your private encrypted memories stay out of reach over the remote connector. That’s on purpose: to read them, Echo would need your key, and Echo never asks for your passphrase or key over this connection.

What still works: memories you and your teammates have published to workspaces, plus friends and workspace features. Echo shows you exactly what’s available when you sign in.

For your private memories, use echomem-mcp init on a computer where your vault is unlocked. It decrypts on your machine.

Never paste your passphrase into a chat. Echo will never ask for it there.

Where your memories go

When your assistant reads a memory, that memory goes to the company that runs the assistant: Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT and Codex. They handle it under their own terms.

Saving works like every other Echo surface. Echo turns the conversation into memories with Google Gemini and builds the search index with OpenAI, on paid services that don’t train on your content.

To stop, remove Echo from the app’s connector settings. The details are in our Memory Terms, Privacy Policy, and Security pages.
